Roofing for Glen Carbon homes
Glen Carbon has a mix of homes from different eras, and their roofs don't all age the same way. A roof on an older house may have been re-covered before, or have chimneys and wall joints where flashing wears out first. A newer home may have one large, simple roof that still takes a beating from sun and wind. That's why we start with an inspection instead of a one-size answer.

Hail of 1 inch or larger has been reported in or next to Glen Carbon in four of the last five years. Stones of 1.5 inches and up can bruise asphalt shingles without any visible leak, which is why we check roofs here after every reported event, not only when water shows up inside.
What Metro East weather does to a roof
Roofs on the Illinois side of the region deal with hot, humid summers, freezing winters and spring and summer thunderstorms. Over time that shows up as:
- Shingles that crack, curl or shed granules after years of heat
- Water getting in around chimneys, vents and skylights where flashing has failed
- Shingles lifted or torn off by strong wind
- Bruised or cracked shingles after hail
- Ice and water problems at the edges of the roof in winter
Repair or replace?
Not every problem needs a new roof. If the damage is in one area, a roof repair may be all you need. If the roof is near the end of its life, or problems keep showing up in different places, a roof replacement may make more sense. We'll show you what we found and explain the options before you decide.
