Emergency roof repair

An emergency roof repair happens in two steps. First we tarp and secure the damaged area to stop the water. Then, once it is safe and the roof has been inspected, we make the permanent repair, or explain if a replacement makes more sense. Tarping protects your home now; the inspection makes sure the repair fixes the real cause. Start with a free roof inspection with a photo report if the leak has already stopped.

When to call for emergency tarping

  • An active leak — water dripping through a ceiling, light fitting or around a chimney.
  • Missing shingles after wind or hail — bare decking or underlayment showing after a storm.
  • Tree or limb damage — a branch has punctured or crushed part of the roof.

What we do

  1. Tarp and secure the roof. We cover the damaged area and fasten the tarp so more water can't get in while the roof waits for a proper repair.
  2. Free inspection and photo report. Once it's safe, we inspect the whole roof and give you photos of what we found.
  3. The proper repair. We explain whether a roof repair is enough or a replacement makes more sense, with a written estimate.

What to do while you wait

  • Move valuables, electronics and furniture away from the leak.
  • Catch drips with buckets or towels, and keep clear of wet ceilings and electrical fittings.
  • Stay off the roof. A wet, damaged roof is not safe to climb.
  • Take photos for insurance — inside and out, from a safe spot on the ground.

Insurance and emergency tarping

If you decide to file a claim, we help with the process: our photo report shows the damage we found and the work we recommend. We do not handle or negotiate claims and we are not public adjusters — coverage is your insurer's decision under your policy. See Insurance & Storm Damage Roofing for more.

FAQ

Emergency roof tarping questions

How fast can you tarp my roof?

We answer the phone 24/7 and come out as soon as it is safe to work on the roof. Arrival depends on the weather, how many homes have been hit and where you are, so we can't promise a set time — call and we'll tell you honestly what to expect.

Is the tarp a permanent fix?

No. A tarp is temporary protection to stop more water getting in. Once the roof is secured we do a free inspection with a photo report, then recommend the proper repair or replacement.

Will my insurance pay for emergency tarping?

That is your insurer's decision under your policy. We help with the process by documenting the damage with photos, but we do not handle or negotiate claims and we are not public adjusters.

What is the difference between emergency tarping and emergency roof repair?

Tarping is the first step: it covers the damaged area to stop water getting in. The emergency roof repair is the permanent fix that follows once we have inspected the roof and know what needs to be repaired or replaced.

Why not skip the tarp and repair the roof right away?

A permanent repair needs a proper look at the whole roof, which isn't always safe or possible during or right after a storm. The tarp stops the water first, so the repair can be planned around what the inspection finds.

Do I still get a free inspection after tarping?

Yes. Once the roof is secured, we do a free inspection with a photo report and then recommend the proper repair or replacement with a written estimate.

Should I go up on the roof myself?

No. Wet, damaged roofs are dangerous. Stay inside or on the ground, catch drips, move valuables and take photos from a safe spot until we arrive.
